Best Dressed: Grammy Awards 2017

After much commenting over the BAFTA Awards, it is now time to talk about the Grammys. It was actually harder for me to write this post, considering that there were more stars walking this red carpet. However, I think I’ve come up with 5 great looks that will inspire us to finish the week off.

Let’s start with the queen of the night, and by queen I obviously mean Queen B! Needless to say that she glowed, all the way from her golden performance look, to her fiery and definitely not less striking red dress by Peter Dundas. Her shimmering sequined gown complemented by a jewel-drop necklace showed us that she and she alone is the queen of queens at Hollywood.

Best Dressed: BAFTA Awards 2017

Last night was a major one on the calendar of both actors and singers. While London hosted the 2017 BAFTA Awards, LA did its part with the Grammys. This is great news for us who get to admire or cringe over a whole bunch of dazzling or dreadful looks, accordingly.  As biased as you guys know that I am, let’s begin our review with London.

I will sum up this red carpet as an Alexander McQueen night, for although it was not the reigning designer of the event in terms quantity (Gucci had more numbers on the carpet), it was definitely the reigning one in terms of splendour. Talking about reigning, Kate Middleton, our beloved British Cinderella, looked radiant in an off-the shoulder, floral McQueen. She exuded royal poise with every step.

Top 5: 2017 Golden Globes

I know, I know this post comes a bit late, but hey, better later than never! Award season has started. Back when I was living in London, as a fashion assistant to a celebrity stylist, I particularly remember this time of the year as one of the most hectic, nail-biting moments of them all. Now that I am on the other side of the lens, it all seems easier, more effortless, and definitely more glamorous. So with the tranquility of one who is only a spectator, but with the eye of one who is aware of what happens behind closed curtains, here are my top 5 looks from this year’s Golden Globes.

Let’s begin with Emily Ratajkowski. This Reem Acra look was perfection. The colour, the hair, the Hollywood glam, it was a flawlessly concocted attire. I am always searching for that one outfit that harmonizes sexiness and elegance, and to me, this was it. Allow me to say that it was Gold!

Uniqueness

_MG_4569

One of my closest friends got married a few weeks back. I don’t own many gowns, so for this very special occasion I decided to invest in one that would be as unique as possible. I have become very fond of national designers, and last November when I attended MBFDays El Salvador, I spotted the dress that I wanted to wear on such an exceptional night. This Monica Arguedas seemed ideal for two reasons: it was different than what everyone was wearing out here, and the fact that it was a two piece look made it versatile and perfect for wearing to multiple events – a great investment! For the wedding, I actually wore it with a low bun to show off its beautiful back. I hope you like it!

Opulent Simplicity

IMG_0737
For my second eveningwear look in collaboration with Almacenes Simán, I chose a gown that struck me as perfectly balanced. Its simple design is counterweighted by the opulence of its embellishments. To add a special detail, that would lure the eyes, I used a gold belt that also matched the rest of the accessories.
