Best Dressed: Met Ball 2017

As the coolest, most fun-watching, and avant garde carpet of them all, the Met Ball is the rebel cousin of red carpets. The one the rest gawk at in admiration and pray for a bit of its coolness to rub off on them.

However, fascination doesn’t come without a risk of its own. For those who dare walk this carpet, there is a fine line between a perfect revolutionary and fashionable look, and a what-where-you-thinking, painfully cringing apparition. Since an image can speak louder than words, let’s stop talking and start showing!

The Succesful Risk-takers

Here are those who delivered style, progress, and excitement all wrapped in one, without eroding their own image.

Lily Aldridge in Ralph Lauren offered us a masterclass on accessorizing. This look could have fallen short for the Met Ball, had it not been for the red Balenciaga boots and the pink mesh, daintily wrapped around her face.

Top 5: 2017 SAG Awards

I meant to write this post first thing Monday morning, but urgent projects kept me from doing it. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy, and relish on what’s coming, as much as I did while flicking through this year’s SAG Awards red carpet looks.

Oh my, oh my, oh my! What else can I say? That was, what I like to call, a night of stars! Anything far from boring, there was glam, there was lush, there was Gucci! Let’s round it up, guys!

Leading the pack, comes my favourite look of the night. Nicole Kidman looked ravishing on this Gucci gown. No amount of emojis could express how much I loved her look. This is how you make a fashion statement, people. The colour looks stunning on her, the sequins allow her to shine more than ever, and the uniqueness of the gown makes her stand out completely. Keeping it simple on her make up was a total plus, and her hair-do was a right call.

Back to Reality

“I’m trying to bring a lot of reality to Dior, which relates to how women live their lives today,” said Raf Simons to The Independent last weekend, and then he gave us AW14 Couture. Actions do speak louder than words… Let go of the idea that Couture is made to be worn solely to once in a life time occasions. Dior Fall 2014 Couture was a collection intended to be incorporated into women’s daily wardrobes. And isn’t that the most supreme expression of luxury? Buying a couture piece and mix matching it with ones day to day attires?

As wearable as the pieces are, the craftsmanship and intricate detailing are still visible in the garments. The lines, the buttons, and the embroideries are there to remind us that it is still Couture we are talking about.

If there was something that made my heart jump, it would be the floor length coats. They were so elegant, so beautiful, so wearable! Yes, this was a collection designed for the women of today.

February Round-up

For a while now, I’ve been thinking about introducing a monthly post displaying my wardrobe additions. This way, I can share with you my obsessions, my fashion and beauty musts, and how I incorporate the key trends into my personal style.

So here is the first one of, hopefully, many! These are February’s additions to my wardrobe and beauty closet, including snakeskin… an SS14 mini trend that will slither its way to becoming a staple for AW14!
