Pick of the Week: Remington Curling Iron

IMG_4399

I have the theory that having a good hair day is a major factor in having a good day. Whenever my hair is giving me troubles, everything else seems to be grayish if not black. Nothing I try on looks good, make up doesn’t seem to help, and I get self conscious about my appearance. That is why, for me, having the right tools that will make my hair shine is a very important matter. I recently tried the Remington curling iron and I loved how it gives me a new look in so little time! I am a natural wave fan and thanks to this little friend I get them effortlessly.

Authenticity

IMG_4146

I have come to realize that one of the keys of style is being authentic. It is not about what or who you are wearing, it is not about your size, it is not even about what runways schizophrenically dictate.

One of my favourite quotes about fashion goes: “Style is personality. It’s having the ability to look at things beyond fashion, and the self-confidence to transform even the simplest thing into something special. It is a natural quality you cannot learn, and there are no rules to follow.” -Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana- And the proof to this statement stands right before our eyes. The great fashion icons, are usually the ones that follow their hearts and originality, not caring about what people may think, say, or judge. It is really about looking within us to find the uniqueness that we each have, and translating it into a beautiful statement of our own.

Pick of the Week: Catch & Release

IMG_3466

It’s been a long time since I haven’t published a pick of the week… so much so, that I should probably change it to “Pick of the Season”. However, every now and then, I find a piece that really merits a special mention. My pick today does not only have to do with fashion, but with social and environmental awareness as well. Beyond being a brand, Catch & Release is a philosophy that impels us to be responsible with our marine environments. The hook bracelets are a small way of reminding us that we should take care of the world that we have been given. Fishing is an entertaining sport, but why not practice it with responsibility? The little good deeds that we do today will help guarantee a better tomorrow. So let’s think about it, and try to protect the beauty that nature is!

Stardust

IMG_4258

Although I’m not much of a sports person, I’m really trying to be more active. Last Saturday, I shockingly agreed to play a match of paddle tenis with a few friends. Funnily enough, I realized that the only pair of sporty shorts I own are the ones from my school uniform…For a while, I’ve been meaning to upgrade my gym wear wardrobe, because I have come to the conclusion that the better I look in my gym clothes, the more I will want to excersice and practice sports. I found these pair of stardust print leggings last week and they immediately caught my eye. They’re fun, playful, and out of the ordinary, and for what is worth, they make up for a really comfy and cool look.

Skin Tone

IMG_2915Last week, someone reminded, in a very sweet way, that we do not need to dress up, climb onto towering heels, or wear unsurmountable amounts of make-up to look chic and stylish. Far from that, class and grace are best perceived in simplicity. Being natural is, most of the times, the way to show our most attractive selves. For this post, I decided to stick to this “less is more” principle, and I wandered into a natural palette of skin-tone, and brown colours. A smooth coat of burgundy lipstick, as a final touch, pulls the look together.

I’d Rather Be Shopping

IMG_2828

A smart jacket will always raise the style of any outfit. I really enjoyed putting this look together. It was a perfect opportunity of creating a contrast between the relax mood of this outfit’s t-shirt, and shorts, and the more classy mood of the white jacket.
