When I wear this denim dress, I remember of that one time when one of my Canadian friends referring to my outfit, bluntly remarked: “you look so motherly.” She made me laugh. She also got me thinking about how different can perceptions be depending on the country. Back in El Salvador, whenever I wear the dress, I get showered with compliments (not of the “you look so motherly” type, but more of the “it is so beautiful, where did you get it from?” type.) However, it is precisely because of my friend’s comment that it thrills me to wear the dress even more. I like breaking molds, and fashion is such a fantastic way of doing it. I encourage you to try it. Yes, sometimes it can make you feel a bit out of place (believe me I know), but it is exactly that what makes you stand out and shine.
When it comes to fashion, I like to keep things interesting by playing around with what I have in hand. I think that introducing men’s clothing into my outfits is a cool way of incorporating unexpected twists into my wardrobe. I bought this shirt a while back, but I still love wearing it. Although I got it from the men’s department, the piece still maintains a certain feminine air to it, perhaps it is the pale pink coulour, or perhaps it is because I like to combine it with lady-like accessories such as, a jewelled necklace, a pair of heels, or (why not?) both. Let me know what you think of the outfit!
Although it has been out for a while now, I really wanted to share with you all Max Factor’s latest ad campaign. The beauty brand decided to pay tribute to style icons Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Madonna, & Farrah Fawcett, by transforming their brand ambassador, Gwyneth Paltrow, into them. The reason why I’m so excited about this campaign is because I had the chance to assist the stylist behind the scenes. It was actually one of the hardest projects I’ve done so far, as the looks were all so different and the timing so tight. But nothing is impossible, and here are the amazing results of all that effort. I hope you guys love it!
Speaking of collaborations on the last post, made me want to share with you an outfit with my Peter Pilotto x Target top, and voilà!, here it is. Although it may give some a feeling of dizziness, I really like the print on the top, and I particularly like mix matching it with other prints. However for this occasion I decided to keep it simple, and so I paired it up with these military green harem-like trousers. I finished the look by adding black accessories.
This week will witness the launching of the latest fashion collaboration for Target. Altuzarra, currently one of the most sought out designers, has teamed up with the big mass market store. And the pieces are hot, hot, HOT, straight out of the oven. The beautiful garments really seem to follow Altuzarra’s understanding of fashion, “that it (fashion) can be transformative, changing not just the way you look, but also the way you feel”. The collection is scheduled to hit stores on September 14th. I wanted to leave you with a selection of my favourite pieces, but you can check the whole line on Target’s website.
